When PERC (Propane Education and Research Council) decided to transform its Skills Evaluator Certification online course into an engaging and immersive experience for workers in the propane industry, they turned to Griotitude for help.
Rather than repurposing an existing online course, they chose to innovate and start from scratch, embracing new ideas and concepts.
How We Helped
Skills Evaluators ensure propane workers can carry out essential tasks safely and correctly. Since this is a practical role, we created an underlying story that enabled learners to shadow an experienced skills evaluator as he performed his job. To bring the story to life, our client requested Vyond animations.
So, we opened the course with three 30s “talking head” animations where the main characters in the story introduced themselves. As the story unfolded, we illustrated critical points in the skills evaluation process and addressed everyday situations using five animated vignettes ranging from 30 seconds to 3 minutes. The vignettes provided an opportunity to relay profound messages about communication skills and combatting misconceptions with subtlety and some humor.
We carried the story through the custom interactions and knowledge checks to create a fully immersive learning environment.
The course ends with a relevant, practical, and safety-focused exam, which is also part of the story. Here, the learner met a new candidate and helped the skills evaluator make decisions as they conducted the skills evaluation.
