The Challenge

Our client, the IT team within a large organization, sought to reduce the number of erroneous data entries by requiring new users to practice and get certified before using their data-sensitive software system. Since the organization did not have a test or training environment, they asked Griotitude to help them create e-learning that simulated the software environment as part of a pre-certification process. Like most secure systems, users were granted access to information and screens that were appropriate to their needs and level of authority within the organization, and the e-learning simulations needed to reflect this.

How We Helped

Knowing our client’s priorities, Griotitude started this project by working with the IT team to identify common scenarios in which users needed to use the system and which screens were accessible depending on their access level for a specific task. We determined that providing an intuitive learner experience required two types of branching: first, depending on the user’s role, and then, according to the task the user needed to accomplish. So, we ensured we had the basic branching structure correct before recording the simulations.

We recorded the simulations in the live (production) environment, then meticulously edited them, replicating all interactive user interface elements (including pull-down menu options) and replacing all personally identifying information with dummy data. This thorough process ensures the highest quality of our e-learning simulations.

Lastly, we combined the scenarios and simulations within the course to guide learners along a logical path, learning only the information necessary to perform a task using areas of the software that were appropriate to their level of access within the system.
